The FTP-exchange service is to be used to exchange files bigger than 2GB between IRB Barcelona and any other user from a foreign organization. In case of files smaller than 2GB, the Consigna service should be used instead as it offers a more intuitive, user-friendly user interface.

You can use this service for outgoing or incoming data transfers. The access from outside IRB is done with no password using an anonymous user. The files are kept 60 days on the repository before being deleted. Remember that if you need to exchange information with any other research group and or core facility you should use the IRB Storage Service.

Prior to use this service you must ask ITS to activate your user and configure the space for your group if it has never been used.

Follow the instructions below for the following actions:

• Outgoing File Transfer (you want to send files to someone outside)
• Incoming File Transfer (somebody from outside wants to send you files)

NOTICE: Web browsers do no longer support FTP access. Please do not instruct external users to download files through a browser.
